Handmade cards as frameable art

My friend Kelli Garcia is completely responsible for this!   The result - I am now a card-creating fiend.  

Some background... In 2024 Kelli urged me to give her some of my art to sell in her interior design boutique store in early autumn.   A few pieces sold in September, and that gave me the courage to sign up for some low-key craft markets.  Lo and behold, my art and jewelry sold well at those markets.  This was quite the surprise to me, but Kelli emphatically said, "Girl, I said you could do this ... and I don't spout off a bunch of bull."   Okay then, that was the kick in the pants I needed to continue to keep learning and offer my works for sale here and there.  

​So here we are two years later, and Kelli has again pushed me in a direction I did not think I would ever go!  Kelli wanted me to make prints of my work, make them into cards that we can sell at her boutiques at Virginia Vintage in Virginia Beach.    I didn't ever think I would truly get into making prints of my work, but it's another learning and growth opportunity!  I sold some original, hand-painted Christmas cards in 2024 and 2025.  But the cards were labors of love, time intensive, and definitely NOT anything off which to make a profit.  

​With Kelli's insistence, I've made cards incorporating high-quality prints with archival ink and mounted them on 300 gsm (really thick) watercolor paper.   The card size is 5 x 7 inches, so each card can be mounted with a larger mat for a bigger frame.  Or the cards can fit into a standard 5 x 7 frame.   Great gifts for someone because they are cards and frameable art!     I also created mixed media cards where I painted the backgrounds and moons using watercolor and then used my Cricut machine to cut out some super groovy Halloween shapes.  Those were super fun to make!  I was transported to my childhood when I played with Colorforms and used my imagination to create different scenes.  Below are just a few examples.
