About the Artist
Amber C. Agee-DeHart As a coastal Virginia native, I could not help but be inspired by the region’s natural beauty of wetlands, maritime forests, creeks and the Atlantic Ocean. Influenced by my professional life in Earth and space sciences, I keenly observe movement, patterns and color in the natural world. |

Being nerdy, I delight in learning about the history, properties and behavior of pigments. I love to paint natural elements and phenomena in vivid hues! But capturing the details of feathers or veins on leaves fills me with joy as well!
My artistic journey began as a child but was put on hold … for decades … as I pursued my career and raised my daughter. As with many creative souls, the pandemic provided the opportunity to slow down and observe the world around me - especially the birds we enticed to come to our feeders. I wanted to depict the bold colors and quirky behaviors of the different species, and that’s when I began nature journaling. Four years later and loads of “pencil and paint miles”, I’m finally brave enough to share my art with you!
